A product with an SPF has to be tested as a drug and sold as an OTC. We are not claiming an spf. Instead we are going to give you an education on what sunblocks and sunscreens are then you can make an educated choice.
SUNSCREENS are chemicals and are classified as drugs by the FDA because they are "intended to protect the structure and function of the human integument against actinic damage."
SUNBLOCKS are generally physical in nature (ours are physical) and contain inorganic materials such as Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide. There are chemical sunblocks out there too so make sure you read the labels! Sunblocks absorb, reflect and scatter up to 99% of both UV and visible light and act as a barrier between your skin and the sun.
So Sunblocks reflect or scatter UV radiation before it reaches your skin and are a physical barrier to the rays. Sunscreens are chemicals that work by absorbing the energy of UV radiation before it affects your skin.
SUNBLOCK can be applied over old sunblock and it is effective.
SUNSCREEN can not be applied over sunscreen and be effective. It must be washed off and reapplied.
How much protection will I get from this product?
Well the active ingredient in this is micronized zinc. Yes, it is micronized..yes, yes .but do you want skin cancer or micronized zinc, or chemicals? The micronized zinc is how you get the most effective coverage and and no white noses! This contains 22% percent zinc. The maximum you can use is 25% so multiply 22 x 2 and you get 44.
Purified Water, Glycerin, Organic apricot kernal oil, olivem 800 ( emulsifier), Zinc Oxide, Cosmocial CQ (mild preservative), potassium sorbate(food grade preservative), scerlotium gum
Ok, this might become my favorite sunscreen. I've had horrid issues with sunscreens my entire life -- frequently never wearing any on my face and neck because they always broke me out. I finally settled on a (super expensive) one from a very well known high-end brand, simply because while it was a bit greasy, it didn't cause my skin to feel itchy or break me out. I could live with a few clogged pores and the greasy feeling in the summer -- just give me a sunscreen! This stuff is soooo much better! Just lighter weight on the skin and much more comfortable. I'll see how it does this summer, but this one might become a must have. Thanks!
The no sun lotion is great, very lite like a moisturizer. I'll reorder this!
I like this cream because it naturally protects me from the sun for a normal day. I tried it once on the beach and it's not good for a prolonged period of time. When used on a daily basis, you can re-apply before stepping out of the house, your commute, or in the afternoon for a walk. It doesn't leave your face white like a geisha, which is a huge plus and you can apply makeup on top of it.
I went to the beach and loved it, doesn't make me look like a ghost, protected me from being sun burnt and is natural, no scary ingredients. 100% recommended
This product has changed my life. My ability to handle daylight was wrecked by cancer drugs almost 20 years ago and this is the only product I can use and it WORKS! Excellent products here!
This is the best sunscreen I've used. It feels great on my skin and doesn't leave me ghosty white like many mineral suncreens. I am a "ginger" and burn and freckle easily, but this has protected my skin all summer from hours of outdoor activity. It also seems to make my 56 year old skin look smoother. Loved it so much I bought two bigger bottles so I don't have to scrimp on it. I also love that it is unscented - I hate smelling like a tropical drink!
This is my 4th bottle--I am highly satisfied because it's light, protective, and cruelty-free
Simply the best product for sensitive skin. No grease, no irritation and no sunburn.
It has actually helped to heal my face and my mother's. It doesn't feel heavy or thick. I hate putting a lot gloop on my face but with this product I don't really feel it at all! I use it under the face powder I get from here along with a little bit of coconut oil. Perfect!
